Sex & Health

If you have symptoms of a sexually transmitted disease (STD), both you and your partner should be tested as soon as possible by a medical practitioner.

Symptoms may include fever, pain in the abdominal/pelvic region, change in discharge, sores or blisters. But, many people who have a sexually transmitted infection report no symptoms at all.

Avoiding exposure is the best strategy for preventing sexually transmitted diseases. Proper use of condoms with each act of sexual intercourse may reduce but does not eliminate the risk of STDs.

Hope Resource Center offers testing for:

  • Gonorrhea*

  • Chlamydia*

  • Hepatitis B & C

  • Herpes

  • HIV*

  • Syphilis*

  • Trichomoniasis

  • There is no clinical examination or test (other than a pap), or treatment for Human Papilloma Virus (HPV).
